Care & Handling Tips

 

Cattle should be observed when they get up for the first time in the morning. Healthy cattle will usually get up, stretch and have a bowel movement than head for the feed bunk. This is the best time to observe first sign of sickness. The manure can be checked for sighs of digestion problems, blood in \manure ect.

 

Rectal Temperature: 101 to 102.5 Degrees F

Respiration Rate:  25-35 breaths per minute

Heartbeat Rate: 55-75 beats per minute

 

Signs Of Sickness

Will not eat

Will not drink

Lay around too much

Dull & glassy eyes

Drooping ears

Head allowed to hand down

Slow and or stiff movement

Discharge out of nose & Eyes

Dull reflexes

Slow to react to unexpected noise or movement
